I live in the Virginia suburbs, an area I never expected to stay for too long, but things have a habit of surprising you. I arrived here after living and working in three different countries and thought to stay only a few years, but my life and work have been fairly rewarding and decided to call this home.

I turned 56 this summer, but like most people here will say I don't believe I feel or look my age. It always surpises me to find many of my contemporaries (and even younger) who think and appear much older, so I'm never sure where that places me. I'm healthy, young-minded (although I never know how to qualify that), and wish to find a like-minded woman with whom, together, we can enjoy life.

I enjoy adventures - although I've lived and worked in the Far East and Europe, my most recent travel-passions have centered on the Pacific, where I've found incredibly beautiful islands set in azure waters. I enjoy diving (SCUBA); so many new worlds open when you can explore what's below the surface as well as above. On dry land I have a variety of interests, from laid-back to somewhat more refined. I can be found doing anything from riding motorcycles with my dog, Frank (ergo my Match pseudonym), to attending black-tie affairs, but I especially enjoy any occasion when in the company of good friends. I'm at ease in just about any setting and, I believe, easy to approach - I have a tendency to strike up a conversation with almost anyone, anywhere. I don't follow team sports and have a difficult time sitting in front of a television watching them.

An Architect by profession, but my career has taken me in so many other directions. If anything, my education taught me to be flexible and adaptive and, judging from the path my career took, that was a necessity. I'm convinced that life's journey can never be planned - it's just too dynamic. My philosophy of life is perhaps best epitomized by Peter Sellers' last film, "Being There." It?s a little dated, but the message is timeless: "Life, " after all, "is a state of mind."
